"Sound & Color" the image was created during Alabama Shakes historic performance at Newport Folk Festival 2016.   The image gives the viewer a unique perspective of Brittany Howard in full command of the Fort Stage during golden hour.   The Narragansett Bay and crowd aglow in the background fully absorbed in the moment that is the live musical experience of Newport.    
 
20% of the net profit goes to the Newport Festivals Foundation, and their work supporting musicians and music education programs across the country. Newport Festivals and Brittany Howard are partnering together to create a scholarship fund in memory of her sister, Jaime at her alma mater, East Limestone High School in Athens, AL. The scholarship will be available for East Limestone students and alumni interested in pursuing a career in music.
 
As a photographer this image epitomizes what the live music experience looks and feels like to me.  I love that there is hardly a cell phone in hand.   All eyes are on Brittany and the band.  Everyone is in the moment enjoying the experience, the magic that is live music.
